In no particular order, these are the links to medical professionals and start ups who are experimenting with psychedelic treatment as a technique to cure alcoholism, depression, and PTSD, tech fellowships, DJ Tools, podcasts about music and music making, a book about gifted adults, exclusive ad-free music, and queer movie reviews.
Clubhouse is my new favorite thing. I have Randy to thank for telling me about it, and Sabio for the invite. I met both of these people doing things that I love. Randy, at a table read for a TV show that starts shooting in a week; I play an angry neighbor at Weed World, and Sabio, on set as a guest writer for a TV show that I found on Craigslist when I first moved back to the city in 2018.
“Excellence emerges only over time because Advanced Development is rooted in the process of integration.”
Today I sat in on a teachers training for a gifted students program where I’ll be conducting a 12 week “Building Utopia” Minecraft class. After learning more about gifted children and the signs of giftedness, I found myself googling gifted adults and came across this book.
The Gifted Adult: A Revolutionary Guide for Liberating Everyday Genius by Jacobsen, Mary-Elaine
I ask my father if he ever felt like he should have given me away
he said no
i asked why
he said

seagulls in Brooklyn remind me that i am close to the ocean
or at least my body is
and micah’s
the train will bring us
close to the water’s edge –
An image of a man that looks like my father emerges from the separated line
the one that creates division between land and sea like memory and longing.
Sunday i stay home to take care of my bunion and broken ha-ha-ha’s
emerge within and clean my face up –
A post from September 2019 i moved my desk in front of this mirror so that in these moments of emotional release, I can look up quickly and see myself for what it is and not feel like i should worry about judgement. when i operate from this place, i am learning that the love is tremendous and heartwarming and sanctified on something else where i allow myself the space and luxurious expenditure of time – in a system that is determined in all the ways necessary to ruin our time with ourselves. it can slither around, curl up, place my head behind Micah’s body that smells like earth and love. its — irreverent, the explaining. Instead of buying children plastic toys buy them a book. with the money that you save you can pay yourself $15 an hour to sit with your child and read with them. read with them. Dear Universe, i feel a hump in my back like an animal. the songs remind me of medicine. the interruptions incessant almost like we are in sonic competition for airwaves; to not pause even when there is silence. It can be very tempting to end all helps of love. Tunneled out there for a second. Oolong tea seeps for how many minutes? Unsure. The sound of motorcycles become a warning that i might know what i might know or if there is a layer of raspberry jam that has gone bad and there are 36 layers and not enough time to go through them all to find which one is rotten – the engine sound sends shivers through my body like toasted almonds waiting to be churned and sprinkled over whipped cashew butter on a homemade vegan humming bird cake you made for your 24th birthday. We don’t talk anymore because – The Empire State Building is not lit up tonight. The adults are not to be blamed. Below is a Canva poster I made about the respective celestial bodies and deities according to the day of the week along with the respective chakras that can we work on, stones and crystals to work with, and herbs and oils to incorporate throughout the day to promote clarity. There are rules to playing this game of life but we were not taught the unseen guidelines of how we can be playing with greater ease. At least I wasn’t until I attended a workshop with Yaz through Camel Assembly towards the end of 2020. Now I rejoice when I get my period. I still have to get on that diva cup thing – until then – Open that root chakra with Kassandra and nourish it with Michael from One Green Planet.
